We have users that have more than one smtp email address (user@company.com and user@company2.com). How do I address these other smtp email domains. To support mutual tls do these email domains have to be included in the SAN of the certificate?

Hi

I'm trying to perform a Cut-Over migration but keep getting the following error on all users:

user@company.com,"The parameters passed to the cmdlet represent a managed account, which doesn't match the namespace state, which is federated."

This is the setup:

- Cut-Over migration from an Exchange 2010 enviroment

- 500 mailboxes

- Federated domain

- Following permissions on databases and all users.

Add-MailboxPermission "standarduser" -User "migrationadmin" -AccessRights FullAccess

Add-ADPermission -Identity "DB01" -User "migrationadmin" -ExtendedRights Receive-As

- Some users have "Include inheritable permissions from this object's parent" on thier AD account and som don't

Does anyone have any ideas what can be wrong?

Post Office 365 Migration & Outlook

$

Good Morning,

At the moment our organization's Microsoft Exchange 2007 service is hosted through Rackspace. Next week we will be migrating to Office 365. All users will maintain the same email address and all items currently in their Rackspace Exchange mailbox will be migrated over to Office 365.

After the migration occurs and I update the AutoDiscover DNS entries, how does Outlook react? Will Outlook automatically see the new AutoDiscover information and setup the account accordingly? Will Outlook require all items in the Office 365 mailbox to be redownloaded to the workstation's local OST file? Or, will the user have to create a brand new Outlook Profile and OST file after the migration to Office 365?

Thanks,

Barret Newman

Migrating from SBS03.  I have run the www.testexchangeconnectivity.com tool several times and read page after page on troubleshooting this issue.

Running the RPC over HTTP test on the Remote Connectivity Analyzer fails on the following:

Testing the Referral service on the Exchange Mailbox server.
An error occurred while the Referral service was being tested.

 Test Steps

Attempting to ping RPC endpoint 6002 (Referral Interface) on server server-dc.drace.local.
The attempt to ping the endpoint failed.
Tell me more about this issue and how to resolve it

 Additional Details
The RPC_S_SERVER_UNAVAILABLE error (0x6ba) was thrown by the RPC Runtime process.

It passes for 6001 and 6004 (and everything else)

The frustrating part for me is, RPC over HTTP is working for all the Outlook clients I have configured.  I am using it right now despite the error above.

On the SBS03 if I c:\telnet localhost 6001 and 6004 I get the expected response, ncacn_http/1.0.  If I telnet to 6002 though I just get a blank screen and blinking cursor.

ValidPorts in the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Rpc\RpcProxy  is configured correctly.

Rpccfg /hd
Server Name                         Port Settings

server-dc                           6001-6002 6004
server-dc.drace.local               6001-6002 6004

The server is listening on those ports and netstat -ano does not show 6002 in use by anything else.

  TCP    0.0.0.0:6001           0.0.0.0:0              LISTENING       6528
  TCP    0.0.0.0:6002           0.0.0.0:0              LISTENING       3716

I am open to any suggestions.  Thanks in advance!

Cut-over migration error

We´re trying to migrate all mailboxes to Office 365 using the Cut Over E-mail Migration.

We´re following these steps:

  1. Click New Email Migration
  2. Select Exchange 2007 and superior
  3. Enter e-mail, username, password, number of mailboxes to migrate simultaneously
  4. When I click Next, the page is blank as you can see below:

We have tested in Chrome, IE8, IE9 and IE10 in different computers located in different locations and the results are the same.

Do you know what´s happening?

Thank you,

Gabriel

How can I migrate PSTs to the cloud with an O365 P1 account?

$

I have one user (me) with one computer running 64bit Win7 and 32 bit Office.  I have an O365 P1 account.  I file my email in a series of PSTs with folders.  These folders don't show up in my OWA email now.  I want to migrate them to the Cloud so that I can access my old email on the road.  How can I do that?

I looked into using the PST Capture Tool. But the console for the PST Capture Tool requires 64 bit Outlook. This means that I can't use PST Capture unless I uninstall my current Outlook and reinstall it as 64 bit Outlook.  And if I do that, probably some of my current Outlook add-ons won't work with 64 bit Outlook - the MS webpages for 64 bit Outlook are full of warnings about incompatibility.

I can identify my PSTs and there are only about 6 of them. Is there some way that I can upload them by hand without using the Capture Tool?  How would I do that?

Thank you for your help!

Shared mailboxes deleted

Hello

Last night I migrated 3 mailboxes from our on premise Exchange 2007 organisation to Office 365 using the MRS. These mailboxes were generic accounts for our branch offices and therefore needed to be converted to shared mailboxes. I converted them over to shared mailboxes and removed the attached licenses from those user accounts. I followed the instructions in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2710029 to ensure that they remained as shared mailboxes. Everything looked good - they were appearing as shared mailboxes in EMC and the Microsoft Online portal wasn't reporting any problem regarding potential loss of data due to the accounts having no licenses. This morning I noticed that those 3 mailboxes have now been removed. I spent several days over a week ago testing this procedure to ensure that I would avoid this very situation. Since then I've migrated about half a dozen accounts and converted them to shared mailboxes successfully. I have no idea why these 3 particular mailboxes would have been removed (they were all <1GB in size too). I've lodged a ticket with Telstra (in Australia we cannot contact Microsoft's Office 365 support directly) to report this. I don't fancy my chances of getting these mailboxes restored but I thought I'd try and get my ticket escalated immediately in case there is a slim chance they can be recovered. Has anyone else run into a similar situation as this?

Synchronizing outlook and office 368

We have the samen problem again as our contact list and agenda no longer synchronize with office 365. This has happened very often over the past month.

This problem has never been solved, for us a reason to start looking at other options as this is not really a workable tool.

I am creating an Exchange Rich Co-existence enviornment with Exchange Server 2007 and already did the following things.

1)Running Exhange Server 2007 SP3 and all configuration is already done.

2)Installed Exchange Server 2010 SP2 with Update Rollup-1

3)Created a Certificate Request and succesfully binded with Exchange 2010 Hybrid Server.

4)While Following the Document for Rich Co-existence i am stuck in phase where i am configuring Virtual Directories on my Hybrid Server and it gives me an error like that

"An IIS directory entry couldn't be created. Access
denied: when i ran the command the get-owavirtualdirectory

I tried to add Exchnage Trusted Subsystem on my local admin rights on my Exchange Server 2007 and it shows that Exhange Trusted Subsystem is already a member of Administrator group.

Please advice what can i do o resolve this issue.

Remote Mailbox move for local mailboxes of more than 25 GB Exchange Hybrid

Hi,

We are in the midst of an Exchange Hybrid Deployment with Office 365.  We already have done some pilot remote mailbox moves.

We have some users who have more than 25GB mailboxes on prem, we are planning to gives these users archive mailboxes on Office 365.  What is the best approach we can do for these users?  is there are a possibility we can run a remote mailbox move to split their mailboxes to the Office 365 mailbox and archives?

Thanks,

Autodiscover Records Configuration

Dear All ,

I need to know some best practices for  configuring Autodiscover record in Rich Coexistence Scenerio

lets take a scenerio where we have existing Exchange Server 2007 running with SP3 and providing mail services to employees now in my local DNS Server

Internal DNS SERVER

A Record for Autodiscover to My Exchange server 2007

External DNS

SRV record For Autodiscover pointing to Public IP of my Exchange Server 2007

After Building Rich Co-exisitence

Microsoft Recommeds to change the Autodiscover record from Public DNS that will point to Hybrid FQDN Server for that i will remove SRV record for my Exchange Server 2007 and created a cname that will point to Hybrid.domain.com my Exchange 2010 Coexistence server

What about internal DNS Server Autodiscover Record ,i didnt find any technet material to configure internal DNS Autodiscover record for Exchnage 2010 Hybird Server ??

Hybrid Server Requires W2K8R2 with SP1

Hi Guys

I am about to implement a Hybrid Server. I am using my current standalone Exchange Server as the Hybrid Server. I upgraded to Exchange 2010 SP2 RU1. But I just realized by OS is W2k8R2 no SP1. Is SP1 a requirement on the OS?

The Exchange Deployment Assistant stated that SP 1 is a requirement on the OS, however, Technet stated that no SP 1 is required.

Should I put SP1 on the OS??? I'm trying to minimize risks. If SP1 is really not needed, then I won't bother to put it

Cut-over migration

Hi,

I am trying to do a cutover migration from Exchange 2007 to Office 365 and am not sure if I cause a problem.

I had a few issues so I 3 times started a batch, stopped and deleted it until I had a batch running. This one I had to pause and after restart it said "The administrator canceled the migration before this mailbox was migrated." on a few mailboxes.

Now I read that even if I create a new job - or restart this job  - already migrated boxes will NOT be updated? Is that true?

What do I need to do to make sure that all mailboxes will be migrated and updated every 24 hours?

Thanks for your advice

Edwin

Convert Exchange 2003 mailboxes to mail-enabled users after a staged Exchange migration

$

This article and the scripts provided are very helpful.  I just have one question though, how does one actually do mailbox offboarding from Office 365 to Exchange 2003 mentioned in the article.  We have been replacing the mailbox GUID attributes as we do not want to leave any loose ends, but is it necessary?

MailUser (no mailbox) ExternalEmailAddress automatically reverting itself...

$
0
0

In some cases, we need to receive email for a user@domain.com, and forward it to their external email address user@gmail.com.  The user needs to be able to send & receive mail as user@domain.com, but they don't need (and don't want) a mailbox in our domain.

I setup MailUser accounts in powershell as follows:

$FullName="Full Name"

$Pass="RandomCh@racters"

$NewUserName=username

$External="user@gmail.com"

New-MailUser -Name $FullName -MicrosoftOnlineServicesID $NewUserName"@domain.com" -Password (ConvertTo-SecureString -String $Pass -AsPlainText -Force)

Set-MailUser -Identity $NewUserName"@domain.com" -EmailAddresses $NewUserName"@domain.com",$NewUserName"@domain.onmicrosoft.com",$External

Set-MailUser -Identity $NewUserName"@domain.com" -ExternalEmailAddress $External

I use Get-MailUser | Format-List to confirm these fields:

    ExternalEmailAddress    user@gmail.com

    EmailAddresses        {smtp:user@gmail.com, SMTP:username@domain.com, smtp:username@domain.onmicrosoft.com}

    PrimarySmtpAddress    username@domain.com

I confirm that it works, by sending mail from my own account, to username@domain.com and confirming with the user that they received it at gmail. ...   The thing is ...

Some time later, I look at ExternalEmailAddress again, and it has magically changed itself to username@domain.com

Any clues why ExternalEmailAddress would change itself?

As I sit here and I keep checking ...  It seems to only happen once, within 15 minutes of originally setting it.  But it's consistent, no matter how many MailUsers I create, it happens to each of them.

I've only been doing this for the last few hours, so I don't know if this whole setup is going to break itself again later today or tomorrow...  But it seems to be unstable for 15 minutes, and after I reset it once or twice per account, it seems to stabilize itself.

I'm really not sure what's happening.  Any help, much appreciated.

Hi, a few of my mailboxes (Cutover migration) synced perfectly well . On one I got

What does that mean? how can I fix it?

I have a user on a particular .mail.outlook.com server who experiences regular timeout issues, i'd like to 'bounce' them on to another server in the cloud, is it possible to initiate this reconfiguration somewhere or somehow?
