mail flow from cloud to internal users issue

Hi guys

I've recently setup a hybrid solution for a company and I am having issues with mail flow.

I previously created a few test accounts and mail flow seems to have worked correctly from mailbox in cloud and mailbox on premises.

I've moved 1 mailbox to the cloud just over 12 hours ago and he can receive emails from internal users and external users.

He can send external emails but he cannot send emails to internal users that are on the local exchange.

I've setup new accounts on the cloud and internal exchange and the same thing is happening for me.

Is there a period of time that when a mailbox is newly moved to the cloud that it cannot send to internal users?

Do all the users have to be office 365 licensed even though I may not move all the users to the cloud?

Any insight would be appreciated.

Switched from SBS 2008 to Office 365 - Global Address List?

$

Hello,

We've migrated from SBS 2008 to Office 365 for Exchange which has all gone through fine. I've then uninstalled Exchange from the SBS2008 Server as the domain is still active.

However when a user clicks on the Global Address List it show all the mailboxes from the previous Exchange setup rather than the Office365 users. A brand new profile was created when we setup each Office365 account in Outlook.

Is there any way of swapping this over as the emails bounceback when users try to select contacts from the GAL.

Hi,

I am starting a migration from an on-premise Exchange 2007 server to Exchange Online. I was wondering if I need to create User accounts in Exchange Online before I start the migration. I will not be using the AD currently in use as it being decommissioned after the migration.

Getting a bit confused with the steps required. Any help would be appreciated.

Seting up Exchange Management Console without Migrating from existing Exchange

I’ve recently moved to Exchange Online. To make it easier and quicker to manage users/groups I want to use Exchange Management Console. I’ve downloaded a trial version of Exchange 2010. I’ve read that Exchange needs to be set up in a hybrid environment to use the Management Console.

All the articles and tutorials I’ve read about setting up a hybrid system are focussed on migrating an on premises Exchange and transferring existing emails into the cloud etc. I don’t need the migration part because I’m starting with a new Exchange. Is there’s a tutorial that doesn’t include the migration part?

I’ve tried skipping those steps but I’m worried I might skip something that’s required or do a step that’s not required.

We are trying to migrate our Exchange server 2007 domains using Staged migration

1) All domains are added to cloud and we have Exchange server 2007 onpremises
2) Dir sync does everything sync on office 365 ( users from root and child domain)

3)Mail.domain.com is the primary exchange server installed on root domain controller and autodiscover and public SSL certificate is configured correctly and staged migtaiton is working fine for this domain user

mail.domain.com  having a public ip
autodiscover.domain.com configured perfectly and tested using Exchaneg connectivity anylzer

4) We have another child domain abc.domain.com where we are unable to migrate our users with office 365 we have a dedicated exchange 2007 server here where users from this domain are using this exchange to send and recieve external email

mail.abc.domain.com  having a public ip
autodiscover.abc.domain.com configured perfectly and tested using Exchaneg connectivity anylzer

Not receiving all my emails through Connected Accounts

This is my problem.

I have 3 emails that I use and I want them to dump into my main account.  They are all emails that have accounts inside of Office 365.  And I am using connected accounts, but it is not grabbing all the new emails that are being sent to that account.

And also when it does group an email, it takes like 30 minutes before I receive it in my main account with all the emails.

Please help.  This is a deal breaker if I cannot get this cleaned up.

Issue's cutover migration.

Hello all,

At this moment i am migrating a customer with 13 mailboxes from Exchange 2003 to O365 P1.

I have 2 issue's:

1. All prerequisites are met and O365 can connect to the exchange server. When starting a new batch I am only able to start the migration batch. I am not able to select 13 (out of 16 in exchange) mailboxes. I am also not able to define wich mailbox needs to be be migrated to which user in O365. I think it has something to do with my choice of a cutover migration, but i can imagine that i would still be able to select the mailboxes?

2. Step 5 of the installation is still open and the system shows this at every login. I added the needed DNS record for O365, but did not change the NS records to point to Microsoft. The 3th party who is responsible for the domain name hosting will not change this. But the installation does check this. Any idea's?

Hope to hear from anybody soon.

Thank you in advance.

Hi,

We have moved some Outlook 2011 users to the cloud, we are in Hybrid Mode. I understand when we first move the account the redirect message, but it is popping up in the middle of the user just using Outlook. We can of course tick the box to Always use my response for this server, but I would like to know when it keeps coming up.

Best wishes

Michael

Migration stopped by DNS pre checks.

Hi there, we have recently started the trial of Lync using the onmicrosoft.com user accounts.

We love Lync and the guys now want full presence and integration with outlook.

We have also opened up 3 satellite branches recently.

We currently run SBS 2011 with exchange 2010 and its working really well but if our fiber link goes down all sites are effected until service is restored. So the decision has been made to migrate to Exchange online as well.

I started the online Set up Domain under office 365 admin section.

Added all the DNS records as indicated, it seems a bit rusty at finding the records as sometimes it found certain records then they were gone on the next check.

I have gotten to the point where it now sees all records for Lync...

Lync Online
The DNS records for Microsoft Lync are correctly configured with your domain registrar.

but for the life of me it will not find the Exchange TXT record which is setup and nslookup proves it from my side.

This is preventing me from continuing with the planned migration to Exchange online and i did search the forums but found nothing around this specific problem.

Import an Exchange Server Public Calendar to Office 365

$

Hey,

We just migrated a client from on-premise Exchange to Office 365. They had a Public Calendar for their organization. I have exported all calendar data into a PST. What is the best way to import the calendar data and what should I import it INTO? The calendar still needs to be shared organization-wide. Only one user administers it, but she may or may not be leaving, so I don't want to add it to her account and then she leaves. A colleague suggested a shared mailbox, but am unsure how to import data if there is no license assigned. (would lose data if I unassigned the license afterwords)

Any suggestions? Any of this not correct?

Thanks so much

Hybrid Deployment - Shared Namespace (Centralized mail control)

We would like to implement a hybrid deployment with a shared namespace and centralized mail control. However, our on premise exchange is not authorative for all address under the primary SMTP domain.

Essentially before the configuration of the hybrid model, the domain is configured as an internal relay domain in our on premise exchange, and hence any messages with recipients unknown to exchange are forwarded to a smarthost.

Essentially we need mail to come into exchange, delivery be attempted both on-premise or to cloud mailboxes and any remaining messages to be forwarded to out smarthost to either deliver or generate NDRs.

Is there a supported configuration for this requirement?

Many Thanks in advance

How migrate Distribution lists management from on-premise to online

$

hi there,

we have a hybrid deployment with Distibution Lists that have been created on premise.

Dirsync, as expected, enables the Disbribution Lists to be available for use by Online users.

However, as I understand it Online users cannot directly manage the on premise Distribution Lists. My understanding is if we want an online user to manage a Distribution List then the Distribution List must be created Online, i.e. it is not possible to have an Online user modify Distribution Lists as defined in this article: http://help.outlook.com/en-us/140/ms.exch.ecp.editdistributiongroup.aspx

*If* my above understandings are correct, can I ask what is the best way to create Distribution Lists online that are exact copies of the Distribution Lists that are on-premise? Do you have to manually create each Distribution List online, or is there an automated method?

thanks, Richard

Assistance with email address change on synched account

Hi!  I have a mail server in staged migration, and AD synchronization is running.  When it was turned on, it replicated all the accounts beautifully except the user that signed up for the Office 365 account (the admin).  It replicated his account with a number appended to his username since he already existed.  Since its a synched AD account I can't do much in the way of editing it.  I have changed the admin account's username and email address to free up the one that was in use, and added the additional email address to the synched account, but can't set it as primary.

I need to correct his login, or at the very least his primary (return) email address as soon as possible.  Thank you in advance for your help. :-)

Cutover Migration from Exchange 2007 to Office365 with Brightmail appliance

Good Morning,

for one of my client, I've to do a cutover migration from Exchange 2007 to Office 365.

My question regards message flow. At the moment mail messages are received by an appliance then routed to Exchange 2007. Can I maintain the appliance also when all mailboxes will be migrated to the cloud? With this approach I can avoid to modify MX record registration. I didn't found nothing about that on documentation.

Just to be more clear, I explainbetter with ascheme:

now: Internet --> local SMTP appliance --> HUB Exchange 2007 --> Mailbox

based on MS documention, after the migration (modifying MX record): Internet --> Cloud environment

My idea: Internet --> local SMTP appliance --> Cloud environment

Thanks

SSL certificate for cutover migration

$

Can the SSL certificate be created for the public IP address rather than a domain or subdomain?

The Exchange server that we are migrating is only storing email, contacts, and calendars and then they have POP mail set up on their desktop computers that delivers their email to their respective exchange mailbox.  Therefore they don't currently have a domain or subdomain pointing to their server.  We can probably set something up, but if it isn't necessary, I'd rather skip that step.

New Office365 POP3 settings location

While I have had a little time to look at the new interface, I think alot of the new stuff is very good.

However, the help file has not changed.  I go to help to find POP3 and IMAP settings, it points me to settings, options, all options within OWA.    The POP3 and IMAP settings are no longer there.

Where are they

Help required in migration from Gmail to Office 365

$

We have migrated from Gmail to Office 365, while synchronization we see all folders synced in office 365.

I need to exclude all the have only one inbox to be migrated. In migration tool I have option only to exclude folders, can we have something which says exclude all except inbox.

After migration now we have duplicate or triplicate mails we need to remove from Office 365 Owa Login. Is there any tool for the same. Or do I have to delete and create new mail box again?

As this is for all the users, I cannot ave separate rule for all the users to exclude folders.  We are 28 Users in organization, but there are several users with more than 4 GB mails, again syncronizing the same will take too long.

Awaiting kind and quick feedback from anyone.

Regards,

Santosh
