Delete all mail from all mailboxes

$

Hi

Made an obvious mistake with a migration to O365.  Started using the O365 IMAP tool, and then decided I wanted all of the contacts and calendars as well .... so I ended up using MigrationWiz, which I haev used successfully before.

Forgot that I had already migrated emails once.  We aren't live yet, so I thin the easiest would be to wipe all the emails out & start again rerunning the MigrationWiz.

My question - what is the best way of doing this?  Is there anyway of clearing all the mailboxes down?

If I delete them all, will I be able to set them up again without reactivating the existing ones?  I don't want to create myself any bigger problems!!

Any help appreciated.

Cheers

Chris

Nested folders Not Migrated via IMAP

We are trying to migrate our environment from another provider to Office 365/Exchange Online.

In our tests, we have setup a CSV file with a couple of existing users who have a decent sampling of mail on their current provider's system.  I launched the migration app via the admin tools here, and eventually, everything appears to be successful.  The users mail is migrated, or so it appears and everything looks good.  Until we dug deeper.  It appeared that nested folders were not captured via the IMAP migration tool.

Again a bit more digging, the migration tool here is using a . LIST "" % delimiter when retrieving the folder listing.  Our provider does not recognize this, and is saying that we will have to use a . LIST "" * delimiter.

Basically, they are saying that we need to replace the % with a * in our migration script, and they have no intention of updating their server solution, even if their current one does not conform to the IMAP RFC.  Wonderful!

Is it possible to use Power Shell, or some other utility to edit this command? We need to get our user's IMAP data migrated in order to move forward with this migration.

Options please?

Hi,

I had performed IMAP migration once but had to delete it later, although some mails did get migrated. If I do it again, will there be duplication of data?

Thanks,

I am trying to deploy a hybrid exchange for my environment and when tried to run manage federation wizard, stuck with this error:

Tried to google it and found this article:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2615183/en-us?sd=rss&spid=13965

This must be because my Domain Name company.net might exist in Microsoft blacklist for verification purpose. But my Domain Name company.net seems okay on my portal for Microsoft office online and even the status shows active there. Then why still the same error.

1 more thing is, I am not able to send emails to Hotmail.com with my public IP and that is the same IP that I am using to configure hybrid wizard. Besides i can send emails to all other free or private domains. Hotmail returns my emails with error

COL0-MC3-F15.Col0.hotmail.com gave this error:
SC-001 (COL0-MC3-F15) Unfortunately, messages from <public IP> weren't sent. Please contact your Internet service provider since part of their network is on our block list. You can also refer your provider to http://mail.live.com/mail/troubleshooting.aspx#errors.

Besides I have checked my IP on mxtoolbox.com for blacklist and found that it is all clean and asked my ISP for help and they told me that the IP is clean besides I can send emails to other domains without problem.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanx

Migrating two email domains (Exchange 2007 and Google Apps) to office 365

Hello,

Our company (Currently running on Exchange 2007 server) is merging with another company (Running on Google apps). After Hurricane Sandy hit New York, we came to the conclusion that having in-house email servers wasn't the best solution for us. We analyzed all alternatives and Office 365 is the way to go. We also need to keep both domains and have them under the same Office 365 subscription, allowing sharing calendars, sharepoint sites, etc, between them.

So we are facing two migrations:

domainA from Exchange 2007 to Office 365

domainB from Google Apps to Office 365

Domains A and B are not part of the same AD forest. The combined user database is less than 120 users.

Under this scenario, would it make sense for us to use AD synchronization?

Thanks

Is there any way to delete all email using Outlook Web App?

I am a partner administering a new P1 account. I have connected users Gmail account, but later found out that she uses folders (gmail labeles) extensively.  So, I'd like to disconnect the Gmail account and delete all the email that came from it.

Then, my plan is to import all data from the users current setup. However, if I don't delete all the connected mail, there will be duplicates.

Any ideas how to do a "delete all"?

Note: Company name / domain / url changed to protect the innocent. ;)

We are configured as follows

Active Directory
Server/Domain/Forest: Windows Server 2008 R2
Domain Name: contoso.com

AD Integration
Directory Synchronization and ADFS are operating properly

Exhange On Premise
Primary System is Exchange 2003
Mailbox server is Exch2003.contoso.com
OWA / front-end server is: owa.contoso.com
External URL for OWA is: mail.contoso.com (SSL enabled)

Hybrid server running Exchange 2010 SP2
Server name is: Exch2010.contoso.com
External URL is: hybrid.contoso.com

Exchange Connectivity tester passes tests for incoming connections.

I can send emails back and forth between the on-premise Exchange 2003 users and test users we created brand new on Office 365.

When I try to migrate either of my test mailboxes from our on-premise Exchange 2003 server to the Office 365 cloud, it fails with the the following message in the MigrationErrors.CSV file.

Failed to update the on-premises mailbox with the target address (SMTP:tuser3@contoso.onmicrosoft.com). The mail sent to the user will not reach user's hosted mailbox. The error might be due to account credentials used for migration not having enough permission to write data back into the on-premise AD. Please ensure that the account credential has Domain Admin privilege.

Migration Batch Configuration
Username: contoso\o365svcs
URL for the RPC Proxy: hybrid.contoso.com
Server for the mailbox migration: Exch2010.contoso.com

[ Migration acccount has full domain and Exchange admin rights as well as explicit full control (including send as / receive as rights) to all mailboxes on the Exchange 2003 server. ]

Note:
The tuser2 mailbox is on Exch2003. So I did try configuring the batch with the following options:
URL for the RPC Proxy: mail.contoso.com
Server for the mailbox migration: Exch2003.contoso.com

But the batch setup wizard said it couldn't access the server for migrating. Wouldn't let me get past the server configuration options.

The migration batch CSV has one mailbox in it...
EmailAddress: tuser2@contoso.com
Password: null (since we're using ADFS no new password is required on Office 365)
ForceChangePassword: FALSE

The error seems to indicate that there is an issue with permissions in Active Directory, but I checked and insured that all of the accounts invovled have the rights they are supposed to. I also enabled full auditing on Active Directory and no errors are logged by the domain controllers or Exchange servers.

I'm really stuck as to what the problem might be at this time!

I'm receiving duplicate emails which is incredibly frustrating and time consuming.

User Primary SMTP and Proxyaddresses are being overwritten randomly

$

We have been running a hybrid configuration with 95% of our mailboxes hosted in the cloud for months now. We are using SSO/ADFS for auth and Dirsync to sync our directory and user mailbox attributes with generally no problems. Yesterday, on 2/5, I received some complaints that certain users could not be reached via email and the following error was returned:

#550 5.2.0 RESOLVER.ADR.BadPrimary; recipient primary SMTP address is missing or invalid ##

Sure enough, when checking the local AD account there is no Primary SMTP address (mail attribute) and the only entry in the Proxyaddresses attribute was an X500 address (no primary, secondary or sip entries).  I ran some AD object modification reports and found that the DirSync service account made changes to about 1000 accounts on a particular run right before we started noticing problems. Yet the same report doesn't show any modifications from users or service accounts in the 3+ hours prior to that. So I am almost certain that the problem lies on the Office 365 side since the Proxyaddresses attribute is bi-directional and also synced from cloud to on-premise.

Could anyone give me some insight as to what could have cleared these attributes? So far we are working on resetting the email addresses on these accounts, but I cannot have this happen again.

Thank you

Autodiscover for Office 365 hybrid Mailboxes not working

$

I've managed to get the hybrid config wizard to complete and migrated a mailbox from our on-premise exchange server to the cloud.

I can setup the mailbox manually in Outlook and access via the SSO for OWA. However when I try to get the Autodiscover to work for Outlook on the migrated mailbox it is unable to determine the server settings.

I have a CNAME setup on our external DNS for the domain the mailbox is part of which points both autodiscover.office365.ourdomain.com and autodiscover.service.ourdomain.com to autodiscover.outlook.com.

If I run an nslookup from our internal DNS it correctly resolves to the CNAME's Ive setup on external DNS.

I run the Office 365 autodiscover test for the migrated mailbox and it seems to pass ok too. However I don't see it redirect to autodiscover.outlook.com for it's settings, it just gets the settings from our on-premise exchange server.

So there must be something here that I'm missing that is meant to redirect the autodiscover request from our on-premise exchange server back out to the cloud somehow, but I've read through heaps of documentation and posts and can't find anything that works.

What am I missing here?

Move mailbox from office 356 tenant to on-premise synced user

$

Hi,

We have a few users that were created directly in office 365 with mailbox on each user (example.com).

We also have AD with the same domain name (example.com) and same account usernames as in office 365.

We do not have Exchange server in our domain (thats why we set up office 365 mailboxes).

We deployed DirSync to syncronize our on-premise domain users to cloud.

Our on-premise users "merged" with office 365 tenants.

We want:

To sync new users, that are not exist on office 365 (no problem here) and move mailbox from one of the tenants. For example:

user1@example.com - has a mailbox and it's a "merged" account.

user100@example.com - does not have a mailbox and it's a new synced user from on-premise AD.

user100@example.com must have user1@example.com mailbox.

Any advise?

Remote moved users can't use Outlook or receive mail in Hybrid mode

Hi,

This morning we moved 5 mailboxes to o365 from our Hybrid Exchange 2010 environment. We have the following issues.

1 - Outlook will not connect to the account

2 - You can login via OWA

3 - Users can send email from 0365 back to the office via OWA

4 - Users sending from the office to these o365 users get a 'Hop count exceeded' NDR after a few hours

5 - I have a mailbox that was made remotely and not moved that works fine

6 - The remotely made mailbox can send email to the 'too many hop' users, back to the office and receive mail

Any ideas what is going on? It seems our Exchange thinks these mailboxes are still on premise. During the move the users Outlook did pop up the message to close Outlook and reopen as you would expect. So Outlook seems to think they moved.

Any help would most helpful.

Best wishes

Michael

Hybrid Configuration Fails For Additional Top Level Domains

$

Hi All,

We've got a hybrid migration going on. We have an existing Exchange 2007 and have added an Exchange 2010 Client access / hub transport server. We have 5 top level domains to migrate.

I've run the hybrid configuration wizard for our primary TLD and that ran with no errors.

The issue
I'm having is where the hybrid configuration wizard is failing when adding any of our additional TLD.

I've got autodiscover DNS configured for all TLDs but only have the primary TLD autodiscover on the certificate on our Exchange 2010 Hybrid server.

My question is, do I need to have autodiscover fully working for all of our top level domains for the hybrid configuration wizard to be successful?

Thanks

Mailbox Move from cloud to on-premises issue: Relinquishing job because the mailbox is locked. The job will attempt to continue again after. What to do?

Hello All,

I urgently need help to resolve a mailbox move issue.

I am currently running Office 365 in a full hybrid deployment with Exchange 2010 SP1 which is working fine.

I am trying to off-board a mailbox from cloud back to on-premises. I have tried this operation in the past and it worked fine without any issue.

Three days ago, I created two remote mailbox move requests. One from on-premise to cloud which completed successfully and the other from cloud to on-premise. The job ran overnight and the mailbox size is 2GB. The next morning when we check the status, it says moving.

When I check the property it was at 95%. I left it to complete but later in the afternoon I checked again and it was still on 95%. As a result, I was forced to check the log.

Examining the logs revealed that there were two messages that captured my attention:

It kept trying and resulting to the same issue. The move is over two days now, yet the status remains on Moving.

What can I do to ensure that the user does not loose any data as a result of the situation?

Is it possible to remove the move request at 95% reset the request?

Please I need answers to my queries as early as possible as I am currently stuck and does not know what to do.

Thank you in advanced.

Exchange 2003 Migration Advice

$

Hi All

I'm looking to get to grips with Office 365 and migrate our business, although while fairly familial with Exchange this has me scratching my head on aspects.

The current setup consists of two main offices each with their own Exchange 2003 server supporting approximately 40 mailboxes each.  The servers reside within the same domain and are configured to route mail between one and other.  All mail is filtered via a 3rd hosted service on both inbound and outbound routes.

1: We are looking to migrated in a staged way, ideally a couple of mailboxes a day while still retaining full operation for both on premise and cloud mailboxes.  Are we correct to be pursuing a "Staged Migration" route for this?

2:  If the staged approach is correct then what needs to be configured to allow mail to flow between Exchange 2003 on premise to Office 365 and vice versa

3: With the complication of keeping the 3rd party mail filter how do you configure this within Office 365 as the domain verification needs to take place on the MX record but currently those go straight to the 3rd party.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Free/Busy Information between on premise and 365 with different domains

We are currently testing Office365 for migration. Our setup is a little unique because we are also changing email domain names during the move.

This is how we are currently setup.  (hyrbid 2003/2010)

Olddomain.com is our recipient policy on premise and is approved in Office365.

Newdomain.com is also approved and setup on cloud.

We have ADFS and Dirsync running correctly and can move mailboxes from on premise to off. We only have to manually add newdomain.com, newdomain.onmicrosoft.com,etc to the on premise user before we move them.

http://blogs.technet.com/b/neiljohn/archive/2011/08/15/office-365-hybrid-deployment-exchange-rich-coexistence-sharing-availability-free-busy.aspx

We are using the above article to test with. newdomain.com passes test-federation trust and Autodiscover test.

Olddomain.com does not. We have not run it against the hybrid configuration wizard yet or federated that domain.

Should be have to do that to pass free/busy? It seems as we should just be able to add the other domain under Organizational Relationships tab and it "just work"

Any input would be appreciated.

User calendar items not moved with New remote move request.

I have a hybrid environment (exchange 2003 and on-premise Exchange 2010).

I performed a “New Remote Move Request” today and the user can access his email (View, send, and receive) his email; however his calendar items are not available. When he attempts to access his calendar his appointment are missing. No scheduled appointment (present or future) exist.

When I logged into Exchange 2010 on-premise and access the Exchange management console and navigate to Recipient Configuration > Mailbox, I noticed that the icon next to his name appears as an envelope with a green arrow and swirl. The other user’s icon appears as a blue man with a mailbox.

Any help on resolving this issue is very much appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.
